Book Review: Fushigina Kiroku Volume 12
The main topic of Vol. 12 is education. The explanation by the author is clear and helpful for improving the way you live. I highly recommend reading this book, as it will affect your life in positive ways. There are many topics and details. I only review the following topics:
- The Beginning of Education
- Home Education
- The Difference Between Knowledge and Wisdom
- How to Receive Wisdom
- Education in the Shinto Shrine Isshinkai

The Beginning of Education
The author describes the origins of education in the ancient world. Gods taught various things to God’s children, or human beings. The educational field at the time was based on what was considered important and these principles continue to hold importance in contemporary times as well. From the description of the beginning of education, I can see two categories of education, which includes education to build a healthy mindset and education to develop real-life skills.
The education needed for a healthy mindset is to learn God’s law or natural law, which is not religion-specific. It is like the natural law of physics, but God’s law includes physical and spiritual aspects. It explains the existence of Gods, the greater entities, and the creator. With this knowledge, people can develop a sense of gratitude and respect for Gods. The characteristics will help them keep a healthy mindset when they face difficulties. Also, without respect and gratitude, people can be arrogant and self-centered. Then their self-centered behavior or thoughts can cause negative results. Education for real-life skills can include learning letters, words, communication, work skills, and manners. These skills are essential to living as an adult.
Home Education
In this book, the author emphasizes the importance of home education, especially to teach God’s law. God’s law is helpful to develop a good mindset and learn respect. To learn God’s law, daily life is a great place to teach or learn. Hence, the best place to develop a healthy mindset is in your daily life at home, not only at school. Education, originally conducted by God, is something that has a great impact on children’s lives, and parents play an important role in home education. Parents are highly responsible for building healthy mindsets.
Difference of Knowledge and Wisdom
Another important topic in the book is wisdom. The author defines the difference between knowledge and wisdom. Wisdom is the ability to recognize good and bad. Knowledge can be developed through study, but wisdom cannot. It is a gift given by God.
People who easily choose troublesome actions for their selfish purposes without remorse could be examples of people with less wisdom. As the author explains in other books, those people will receive negative returns from their karma for their bad actions and thoughts. Wisdom helps people to recognize good and bad and is essential to choosing better actions and thoughts.
How to Increase Wisdom
The author answers the question, “Then how can I receive wisdom?” He uses examples to explain what can cause a person to have less wisdom. One of the interesting examples is a story about toilet cleaning. In the story, he says that the dirty toilet will result in decreased wisdom. Although a toilet and wisdom look totally different, they relate to each other. To understand the reason, we need to understand God’s law. In the world created by Gods, everything relates to God’s law. Throughout the series, the author explains God’s law in three categories: nature, the human body, and activities. Wisdom is related to the pulling force, which is described in Newton’s law as the universal gravitational force. However, the author describes two other forces related to wisdom: pushing force and pressing force. The invisible force works to maintain nature, the human body, and activities. He explains more details in the book. The force is not visible sometimes, but it exists like God. The toilet is a place for an activity that uses pushing force to push stools out and clean the stomach. If you don’t respect the place and keep it clean, you will receive its force negatively. Wisdom loss is one of the negative force’s symptoms.
As the story describes, if you have done something using the force in a negative way, it means you have used the force in the opposite direction or against God’s will. The negative action causes a negative impact on wisdom and other related body parts and life aspects as well.
It is similar to laws of various countries. We can use a knife. It doesn’t mean we are permitted to use the knife in bad ways, such as to attack other people. The wrong usage will lead to punishment by law enforcement. Similarly, the purpose of the force we are provided by Gods is to use it positively, such as to help other people. We are living in God’s world. God’s law is not documented. However, the law exists everywhere in this world. A part of natural law is studied, like in physics and mathematics. But there are more natural laws. God’s law explains both spiritual and physical forces. We need to be aware of the force provided by Gods.
Education in the Shinto shrine Isshinkai
The Shinto shrine Isshinkai provides education based on the author’s teachings. They teach God’s law and share their experience daily in the mornings and evenings. The priests and teachers are all helpful. Many people have come to receive their advice and learn how to be helped.
